Far from being a fickle romance, the past five years have seen the number of UK residents buying Spanish property on the increase
Property:
The Scot's love affair with Spain started in the 1950's with the introduction of affordable package holidays to the Costas. Far from being a fickle romance, the past five years have seen the number of UK residents buying Spanish property on the increase by 460 percent, a figure that shows no sign of abating. The California Beach Resort, on the Costa del Sol, is currently marketing 30 freehold top-of-the-line apartments as part of its Santa Cruz collection.
The rage of one, two and three bedroomed apartments, set in the beachside development, come with Mediterranean coastal views, along with en-suite facilities in the master bedroom and a private spa bath on the sun terrace. CLC Resort Homes is also offering a leaseback programme that guarantees a rental income fro 10 years as well as a four week period for personal use.
Place:
The Costa del Sol stretches over 150km of Malaga province in Andalucia, with the California Beach Resort set in the Mijas-Costa area. The development is a five minute drive from Malaga airport and close to Marbella, which retains it's a-list celeb credentials thanks to residents such as Sean Connery and Joan Collins. The village of Mijas is a typical Andalucian settlement with cinematic views of the coast and surrounding wooded mountains.
There are no main thorough fares, but there is a network of narrow cobbled streets, complete with terraces with red tiled roofs, archways and geranium-filled window boxes.
Practical features:
Amenities include landscaped gardens, two lagoon-shaped swimming pools, a spa, beachbar and 24 hour concierge and security service, plus nearby restaurants, bars, shops, tennis courts and golf courses. Low budget, no frills flights from Glasgow allow regular visits.
Plus points:
Government proposals effective from April 6 2006 will give tax breaks to those who use pension funds to buy holiday homes. Buyers can gtransfer the property purchase to their pension fund, so all rental income and capital gains from the property will be tax free.
